Portland Highland Games

Gavin channels William Wallace.

Bastille Day

Auntie Lindsey helped organize an awesome Bastille Day celebration for Pix Patisserie. After such a fun time, we agreed that the French are good people. Oh, did I mentioned hula hoops? Apparently these were used in the storming of the Bastille, as demonstrated by John.

Timbers v. Sounders

In a preview of Portland's MLS future, we were jazzed to see Seattle get a good ol' Portland beat down. Sadly the highlight of the match was when an "injured" Sounder was tagged in the nether regions by a water bottle chucked from the stands. Portland lost 2-1. As Gavin said, "Oh no Timbers!"

Minnesota Trip 2009

We made our first trip back to Minnesota in 5 years, this time with child in tow. It was great to see the Kari's again, and hang out with Nanna. Ana's wedding was beautiful. We went back to all of the old haunts, our first apartment on Grand Ave., the Como Park Zoo with it's free admission, and Minnehaha Falls. Also, this is a land of giants, and Gavin was able snag a ride from one of them.

Keawe Turns 2!

Keawe enjoyed some serious "body time" and chocolate cupcake. Later he showed us why golf clubs may not be age appropriate for toddlers.

Getting up at 5 am has its upsides...

We made it over to the Tigard Balloon Festival to watch the balloons take off at 6am. No problem for us given Gavin's preferred wake-up time of 5!

2009 Rose Parade

And then there was this guy...

Weird, huh?

New Friends

A couple of weeks ago, we went to a kids dance party at the MJCC with my new friend and co-worker Amy and her son, Quincy. Quincy is one month older than Gavin and about a foot taller than him. They had a lot of fun running and running and running around the room. Gavin learned some new dance moves from Quincy. It was a lot of fun!

Go Timbers!

It's been really fun to go the the Timbers games this year because both Gavin and Keawe can say "Go Timbers"
The last game was pretty warm, so Keawe needed a little "body time". Most of the second half was spent chasing the boys around behind the score boards and watching the Max train. Go Timbers!

Emilia Isis Schroeder Brandt

We had a great time on Saturday meeting the two week old Emilia Isis. Seth and Robin are doing a
wonderful job - Emilia is a lucky gal! We also got to see the soon to be newlywed Zach and Micaela. Gavin was charming everyone - especially Uncle Zach who gave him 3 cupcakes just because he kept coming up to him, raising his hand and saying "I do". We figured that Gavin could stand in if either of them forget the words in August :-)

It was a really fun night...

Springtime in Oregon

We've had awesome weather in Oregon this month!  The month was capped with a visit from Little Joe Tex.

Having Fun in the Sunshine

Best Buddies

Happy Birthday!

Grandma & Grandpa are here!

Gavin Turns 2!

Keawe offers his opinion on the finer points of unwrapping presents.

It's Good to be Gavin!

Gavin cleaned up on Christmas morning, so much so, that he said Santa didn't have to bring him presents next year.

White Christmas in Portland (aka The Snowpacalypse)

Fourteen inches of snow over two weeks! The city shut down and we had fun playing in the white stuff.
